What a Wonderful World

Sometimes we get exactly what we want in this life, but we are predominantly forced to temper our expectations, as things rarely work out precisely as we plan. This is especially true of 2020, a year that will go down in infamy as the shitstorm to end all shitstorms.

This unpredictable year did not disappoint with the election. As we see that Biden is geared to win the presidency by the slimmest of margins, we also see a tornado of law suits from the Trump campaign hoping to decimate the inevitable outcome by stopping the count.
No, not that Count!
My most fervent wish for this country is that we somehow bridge the chasm that has separated us politically to the point where it's almost impossible to cross. Just ask the Bridgekeeper.

I must admit I am of two minds regarding this election. I have made no secret of my disdain for Trump and will be ecstatic to see him crawl back to his golden cave, along with his nepotistic children, but I also worry about the possibility that there will be a very disturbing presence of armed militias wandering the country in the interim between now and inauguration day, wreaking havoc and pillaging villages.

I may write a serious post soon with thoughts on the last four years, how we got there, and where we go from here, but today is not that day. Today is a day to be optimistic toward the future and give thanks that our authoritarian experiment will shortly be over.
If you're happy, listen to this song and rejoice in the changes to come. If you are not happy, listen to this song and let it wrap around you like a warm blanket. Thank you, Louis, for showing us the true beauty of this life and this world.
