Due to ongoing strife in my familial unit and the possible legal ramifications of such, I have deleted my last blog post. If you've ever written anything before, you are keenly aware of how difficult it is to wipe your own words out of existence. But as they say (well, the French do anyway, I think) c'est la vie. After all, tomorrow is another day...another day to try once again to string sentences together that may resonate with someone.
But, today is not that day. What I give you lovely people today is one of my favorite songs in the world; a song that so well sums up my attitude on this fine Spring day that I felt it must be shared. It reminds me at a most fortuitous time that I, and no one else, need to steer my own ship. I'm the architect of the life I live and I alone am responsible for the design and creation of what I envision. I alone can find not just my own power, but my own peace. I just need to face whatever tomorrow brings with open arms and open eyes.
It is indeed true that when I drive myself, my light is found.
Drive-
music and lyrics by Incubus
Sometimes I feel the fear of
Uncertainty stinging clear
And I can't help but ask myself how much
I'll let the fear take the wheel and steer
It's driven me before and seems to have a vague
Haunting mass appeal
But lately I'm beginning to find
That I should be the one behind the wheel
Whatever tomorrow brings
I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings
I'll be there, I'll be there
So, if I decide to waiver my
Chance to be one of the hive
Will I choose water over wine
And hold my own and drive?
It's driven me before and it seems to be the way
That everyone else gets around
But lately I'm beginning to find that when I drive myself
My light is found
Whatever tomorrow brings
I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings
I'll be there I'll be there
Would you choose water over wine?
Hold the wheel and drive
Whatever tomorrow brings
I'll be there With open arms and open eyes yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings
I'll be there, I'll be there
