I Dyed Today

It was a day like any other; sweltering heat with the type of humidity that sucks away your sanity, flies fighting their way inside the house, willing to risk their lives to the dreaded swatter rather than face the wrath of the sun, and the dogs looking at me with disdain as I try to make them venture out from their blissfully cool cocoon.

Another day of madness in the world; sickness, death, denials, conspiracy theories, hate, avarice, and selfishness, with a tiny sprinkle of sugar on top. As the country sinks further into the abyss, so does my need to take drastic measures.

It is with all this in mind that I decided to dye. Bright red to be precise. The color of extremes- fire, passion, seduction, anger, danger, adventure, power, and Pennywise the clown.

I have decided that I will be experimenting regularly with my newfound pastime. There is so little happiness to be found these days that something as simple as looking ridiculous and/or unusual fills me with glee. I think this particular color is a thumbs up on me, which means I must do something more absurd.

This life is more fragile and precarious than most ever want to admit. We spend so much time and energy worrying about circumstances we can't control and fretting over matters that are unimportant in the larger scheme of our existence, but there is one thing I can control- so I will dye whenever I want! Red today, but the sky's the limit on what I will do next! Any suggestions?
