I was going to leave it alone, but reading posts regarding the Native American/MAGA Catholic school boys debacle has made me so dumbfounded that I have to say something.

Unless you live under a rock, you have seen the video of a group of pious, respectful Catholic boys harassed by a bullying, trouble making Native American man and cowering under the man's brutish, drum beating behavior. I say this because these are comments I'm actually seeing on social media. 'I don't see what this boy did wrong.' 'The Indian guy started it. Watch the whole video.' 'That man beat a drum in that child's face for over 2 minutes.'
Holy shit, seriously? What kind of person do you have to be to think that a mob of boys surrounding, chanting, jumping up and down, and getting into someone's face is anything other than attempted intimidation and harassment? If you think these kids are just having a laugh and being kids, let me pose you a scenario-
It's the Million Grandmas March. A group of Catholic boys are hanging out in a group making offhand comments about the ladies droopy boobs and sagging skin. One of the grandmas walks toward the boys to ask them why they have to be so rude. The boys surround her, begin singing songs about how ugly and old she is, and get so close to her that she thinks she might be assaulted. Now I want you to imagine that this woman is YOUR grandma. She approached them so she deserved it, right?
I have always been much more of an optimist than pessimist, but I really don't know how much worse things can deteriorate in this country. Where is the compassion, the empathy, the understanding of others? How can so many be so blind, so hateful, so apathetic to the suffering of others? I'm out of words
