Bad Lucky, Indeed

I’ve had some bad things happen in my life, but all in all, I have been pretty lucky. I’m healthy, I’m above ground, and every day brings something new my way- thus, my moniker. Unfortunately, as of late, the bad seems to be trying to creep up on the lucky and swallow it whole, like that shark in Jaws as it flies upwards toward the unsuspecting, soon to be non-existent, swimmer.

Case in point, today we put all of our things in the RV, arranged everything where we wanted, and headed toward Charleston, SC from Oriental, NC. We made it 15 miles. Our RV is sitting on the side of the road as I type. John couldn’t get it to go faster than about 30 mph, the ‘water in fuel’ light lit up, the alternator stopped working, one of the fans stopped functioning, and then he started smelling an electrical burning scent. You would think that would be enough, huh?

Umm, no. I asked John if he could make it a few miles farther so we could park the damn thing, but as soon as he got it back on the road, it died and he slowly slunk off into the grass, like a wounded water buffalo. No one can tow it until tomorrow and, after that, no one can work on it until Friday. Yay! Soooo, we unpacked the entire RV and brought everything back to my mom’s house. We didn’t want to leave all our belongings in a tin can on the side of the highway overnight. Sigh. Hey, I’m still above ground, right? Bad lucky, indeed.
